ApresLabs was born out of a desire to deliver outstanding control of resistant insects using equivalent, or less, insecticide application. Whilst synthetic insecticides remain the primary method for the control of agricultural insect pests, negative issues arising as a result of their prolonged or excessive usage include: environmental damage, pollinator poisoning and insecticide resistance. Smart formulations with novel synergists can reduce both problems of resistance and environmental damage. To this end, ApresLabs utilises its expertise on resistance mechanisms to discover synergists to neutralise these effects and enable less insecticide to be used to give an equivalent efficacy.
The latest synergist is SYN-A, a natural synergist derived from unsaturated fatty acids. Patented in various territories, ApresLabs is presently looking for licencing opportunities to take this invention to the field.
Director Dr. Graham Moores, says:
“As a company committed to reducing the use of conventional chemistries for the control of agricultural pests and advocating IPM strategies, ApresLabs Ltd is ideally based at the world-renowned institute that is Rothamsted Research.”
