About this event

Heritage Open Weekend at Rothamsted Manor is back this September!

Once again, we are taking part in Heritage Open Days – England’s largest festival of history and culture.

Heritage Open Days is England’s largest festival of history and culture, bringing together over 2,000 local people and organisations, and thousands of volunteers. Every year in September, places across the country throw open their doors to celebrate their heritage, community, and history. It’s your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – and it’s FREE ENTRY.

Come to Rothamsted Manor, a rarely open to the public, grade I listed Manor house set in beautiful grounds on the Rothamsted Research estate in Harpenden.

This year, the theme of Heritage Open Days is ‘Outstanding Inventions’ celebrating great British inventions. And what better place to celebrate than the world’s longest running and eldest centre for science and innovation.

Come and join us for some fun at Rothamsted Manor.  You can look forward to: –

  • Self-Guided Manor House and Garden Tours
  • Science activities and discovery room
  • Cream teas in the library – please book this separately here
  • Stands – supporting local businesses
  • Lawn games & outdoor activities
  • Crafting activities
  • Gift shop

And much more!

Parking signs will be placed outside the main iron gates to Rothamsted Manor. Please park on the grass verges – from here it is a short 2 minute walk. No parking is available as standard directly outside the manor house. If you require disabled parking, please contact us before hand so we can arrange for our team to open the Manor gates.
