About this event

Carve your own pumpkin at Rothamsted Pumpkin Week!

Pumpkins, pumpkins, pumpkins! During October Half Term, our spacious Fowden Hall will become a cavern of pumpkin activity. Each group (maximum of 6) will have their own table for 90 minutes of pumpkin fun. Enjoy pumpkin carving and let your imagination run wild!

Tickets are £7 per carver (adults and children welcome!) and are inclusive of pumpkin. Please book in advance.

This activity can be done by children and they will require some adult supervision when using the pumpkin carving tools.

In addition to carving your own pumpkin, enjoy the following as part of your ticket price:

  • Pumpkin drawing and colouring
  • Pumpkin farming education
  • Pumpkin food quiz
  • Pumpkin photography competition – share your fantastic carving designs with us on social media to be in with a chance of winning a prize! Find us here: Twitter Instagram Facebook
  • Outdoor games on the lawn outside our café (weather permitting!)

Event Format

The main segment of this event takes place within the Fowden Hall in Rothamsted Conference Centre. Guests will have their own table which is not shared with any other groups. The tables are spaced to allow for social distancing. After your carving is complete, we encourage our young guests to head outside to add a message to our ‘tree of life’, and play games on our lawn, and enjoy some delicious refreshments from our café.

We allow 1.5 hours per table for crafting activities.  Please arrive on time for your session. If you are early, please feel free to visit our café which is open from 9am – 3pm.

Our café will be open for refreshments.

Please note that we do not offer child-care services. Each table must have a responsible adult with them at all times. Our staff are available to advise, but will not be able to care for children, and must keep a distance at all times. We thank you for your understanding and co-operation.
