Rothamsted Enterprises’ tenant FungiAlert has announced an evolutionary rebrand to FA Bio. FA Bio reflects a new mission to revolutionise sustainable agriculture with the discovery of superior microbes.
The revolutionary agriculture microbial discovery and development company, announced today that it has completed a pivotal rebranding to FA Bio.
When FungiAlert was founded in 2015 their vision was to develop the tools that enabled early detection of soil pathogens to support sustainable agriculture and revolutionise disease management practices.
Now, in 2021, following the successful development and commercialisation of FungiAlert’s SporSenZ technology as a soil microbial analysis tool for growers, they are pivoting their mission from offering diagnosis tools to identifying sustainable farming solutions.
To support their new mission and better reflect this next stage of their journey, FungiAlert will be rebranded as FA Bio. Their new website can be found at www.fa-bio.net. FA Bio is a creative and curious entrepreneurial business with a vision to protect the natural ecosystems that we need to sustain life, by discovering agricultural bio-products that can replace or enhance chemical inputs.
Utilising their innovative technology, their unique targeted microbial sampling strategy allows them to collect data and microbial isolates from agricultural fields to build a database of the soil microbial community.
Dr Angela de Manzanos Guinot, CEO and Co-Founder of FA Bio (previously FungiAlert), said: “FA Bio is a growing entrepreneurial company leading the way in discovering game-changing bioproducts that can replace agrochemical inputs. Our mission is to increase agricultural productivity sustainably whilst also improving soil health. Since founding FungiAlert in 2015, we have been focused on developing the tools needed for early detection of soil pathogens. Having successfully commercialised our SporSenz technology in 2018 and deployed over 2,500 samplers around the world, we felt it was time for us to take the next step in our vision.”
To achieve their mission to discover superior microbial biofungicides and biofertilisers, they have introduced two underlying elements to FA Bio; FA BioLab and FA BioAg. FA BioLab will focus on the study of soil microbial communities to collect crop targeted microbial libraries. FA BioAg will focus on indentifying and investigating the biotechnological potential of soil microbes to be developed into superior bio-products (biofungicides and biofertilisers) for agriculture.
Dr Angela added: “During 2021, we fundraised a seed investment round and are now focused on growing the company to deliver our mission, to lead a paradigm shift in the discovery and development of superior bio-products. With our team of dedicated expert scientists who carry out skilled genomic, microbiological and biochemical experiments, we can build a unique database of the soil microbial community to identify agricultural bioproducts. These bioproducts can replace or enhance the activity of agrochemical inputs to help feed the world whilst minimising agriculture’s environmental impact.”
