This month, we’ve been talking to our tenants PheroSyn.
We started by asking them to tell us a little bit about their business.
PheroSyn develops and supplies new types of insect pest pheromones for smarter and more sustainable pest management. We benefit from being part of the SHAKE Climate Change programme, the consortium of leading scientific research and academic institutions formed to identify innovative solutions to tackle climate change linked to the agri-food sector.
And what were your highlights from 2021.
Back in the Spring, we started our 18 month Innovate UK Smart Grant to scale up pea pheromone production and field validation of our products by working with the UK’s leading legume agronomists, Processors and Growers Research Organisation (PGRO). Read more in our blog here.
Then we set up and moved into our own office and synthetic chemistry lab facility at Rothamsted Enterprises.
And in the Autumn we achieved initial sales, and successful field validation trials in Germany in cereal commercial field sales, and we gained successful field validation trials in the UK on pea crops in commercial field sites.
So all in all a busy and successful year!
What about your plans for 2022?
We are continuing with new product development scale up and field validation funded through a recent £0.5 million 36 month Innovate UK Smart Grant. You can learn more about it here.
And who is your target market?
We would like to work with integrated pest management companies for sustainable crop protection applications, and farmers or growers (currently for cereal, pea crops and pear orchards).
Thanks, you’ve given us a real insight into your company and it’s great to have you here as a tenant at Rothamsted Enterprises.
