As Chair of Rothamsted Enterprises Board, Maggie Jones is responsible for leading the Board in developing our strategy and vision, providing clear strategic direction, and ensuring that Rothamsted Enterprises delivers for all our shareholders. Baroness Jones is Shadow Minister for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, is a British Labour Peer and Vice Chair of the Science and Technology in Agriculture Parliamentary Group. She was previously a trade union official and has held non-executive positions in several consumer and environmental organisations.
In her role as CEO of Rothamsted Enterprises, Nicole is responsible for driving forward the growth and development of the business portfolio whilst supporting our business community to grow on site leading to our science delivering impact.
Her infectious enthusiasm coupled with her significant leadership and management experience in public and private sectors mean she has the perfect blend of business acumen and communication skills to take Rothamsted Enterprises forward to meet the various needs of our many stakeholders. Nicole places great importance on delivering excellence across the customer journey and consistently looks to improve our offering to ensure we deliver the strategy for Rothamsted Enterprises.
Steph runs our front of house team with a pleasingly incongruous mixture of iron discipline and creative flair; meaning the team never stop moving and you never find out how the magic happens behind the scenes!
With over 10 years’ experience in the service industry, she believes in delivering exceptional service and experiences for both customers and employees. Originally classically trained as a portrait artist, she now spends most of her time trying to balance her artistic tendencies with her business brain. Is she one of those annoying perfectionists? Yes. If she can’t bring your vision to life, then she will be sure to bring life to your vision!
Claire is our marketing and communications specialist. Welsh and proud, and with a strong eye for detail and a creative flair, she has over 20 years’ experience in the world of marketing, communications and sales, and is responsible for driving forward the sales and marketing strategy.
Claire is constantly on the look-out for new campaigns ideas, crafting compelling messages, developing and promoting our range of events, as well as creating fresh new marketing content, to build awareness of our brands and to drive engagement with our internal stakeholders and external audiences.
Cake and chocolate are two of her favourite things. She’s always happy to taste test! In her downtime you will usually find her running around after her young family.
Kelly Ballard is our Conference and Events Business Development Manager at Rothamsted Enterprises. Kelly has a positive, can do approach and strives for excellence. Kelly has great local connections and is passionate about our community, she has been recognised with various awards for her commitment to her clients by the St Albans Chamber of Commerce and The St Albans Business Community. Kelly is the go-to person for businesses or individuals wanting to host an incredible conference or event within our state of the art conference centre. Clients well-being and safety is a priority for Kelly and she is a qualified mental health first aider.
In her spare time Kelly can be found walking her retired racing greyhounds, experimenting badly with DIY and upcycling, or socialising with friends & family.
Jez joined the team back in 2018 and runs the restaurant and kitchen team. Originally from Luton, he is a lifelong fan of Luton football club.
Having joined the catering industry after leaving school, Jez began his career as an apprentice chef in London. He worked in many prestigious establishments including a 3 Michelin starred restaurant in London as well as restaurants overseas. He has a real love of food and cooking and had achieved two AA Rosettes by the age of 25. He had the pleasure to cook for and meet the late Diana, Princess of Wales and the then Prime Minister John Major.
In his spare time, he loves the outdoors and is a real adrenalin junky. Jez is also a keen golfer, an avid cyclist and enjoys playing tennis.
Claire is Agritech Business Development Manager at Rothamsted Enterprises. She is the go-to person for businesses wanted to base themselves on our campus. Whether you’re a start-up, an SME, a business looking for grow-on space, or a larger organisation within the agri-tech arena, then she is the woman to speak with.
In her spare time Claire can be found walking her dog Buddy, swimming or socialising with friends.
Ivana joined Rothamsted having previously managed public, private events and weddings in a number of 5 star establishments in London and Hertfordshire. She is passionate about delivering great food and quality service and has a great attention to detail gained through 20 years of experience working in the hospitality sector. Ivana brings with her a keen interest in History, so enjoys the opportunity to promote the history of the Rothamsted Estate and especially loves spending time in the Manor.
In her free time, Ivana is a wonderful cook and enjoys entertaining, reading and travelling with her family.
Based at reception, Megan is the first point of contact at Rothamsted Enterprises, always greeting you with her infectious smile and a warm welcome. She prides herself in giving customers the best experience possible, by enforcing high standards and building strong relationships with all our clients. She works in conjunction with all departments in order to support the business as necessary, making sure everything always runs smoothly.
Coming from a fashion design background, Megan deeply understands the businesses ethos of sustainability, and makes sure she puts it into practice in her every day life. In her spare time you can find her making her own up-cycled clothing and accessories or in the gym.
Making successful events happen is what Grace does! Whether it’s a conference for 300, or a small private meeting for 2, Grace will be there making sure our front of house staff get it just right. Her infectious smile, can-do attitude, and calming influence makes her someone you want at your event. If its operational, then Grace has got it under control, because this loyal lady is going to make sure that your event goes without a hitch.
When she’s not at work, she’s playing sports or travelling, or cheering on her favourite football team.
Erin supports and oversees the back of house operations in all aspects of the business. She is the company’s “go-to person” for anything health and safely related, is responsible for maintaining and updating company policies and plays a key role in improving business efficiencies. She is also the first point of contact for requests and queries from tenant companies based in the Daniel Hall, Lawes Open Innovation Hub and Russell buildings.
Erin is eagle-eyed when it comes to detail and is passionate about ensuring clients receive the best experience possible.
Erin spends most of her time outside of work volunteering with the RAF Air Cadets and somewhere in the sky working on her Private Pilots Licence.
Dan has been a chef for over twenty years and is hugely passionate about food and his role at Rothamsted Enterprises. Working alongside our Head Chef Jez Beasley, Dan is responsible for the day-to-day running of the kitchen as well as the kitchen staff. In his spare time, he loves going to the cinema and enjoys eating out, golf and going to the gym.
Anna jumped at the chance to work for Rothamsted Enterprises, due to her passion for environmental causes. She has worked in various finance roles over the past 20 years, from SMEs to one of the biggest names in the UK retail industry.
Anna covers all the financial aspects for Rothamsted Enterprises and is the main point of call for our tenant companies based in the Daniel Hall, Lawes Open Innovation Hub and Russell buildings.
Anna is currently advancing her financial knowledge by working through the AAT accountancy qualifications.
Away from the business and her studies, Anna enjoys listening to music, attending concerts and the theatre, cooking using home grown veg, and long walks in the country.
